Probat Training Center

Our Chicago training center is in the newly renovated Education Lab at Probat USA. Class sizes are limited to 10 participants. A minimum of 3 is needed to hold each session.


SCA Roasting Courses

These courses are designed for the entry and intermediate level roasting professional. Whether you’re just starting your career, or are seeking a better understanding of the roasting process to expand your knowledge base, these courses will help further your professional career. Both SCA Roasting Foundations and Intermediate are offered.

Courses are held at the Probat USA headquarters in Lincolnshire, IL, just north of Chicago. The Probat Education Lab is equipped with Probatino and P-12 roasters and the latest Probat sample roaster. There is a full complement of brewing, cupping and roast analysis equipment and a 2 group La Marzocco GB/5 to espresso training.

SCA Sensory Classes

These courses are designed for the entry and intermediate level coffee professional who’s exploring an understanding of the world of green coffee. Whether you’re just starting your career, or are seeking a better understanding of the the varieties and basics of importing, these courses will help further your professional career. Both SCA Green Foundations and Intermediate are offered. Courses are held at the Probat USA headquarters in Lincolnshire, IL, just north of Chicago. The Probat Education Lab is equipped with Probatino and P-12 roasters and the new Probat sample roaster. Sensory classes are all about the discovery of aromas and flavors in coffee. The one day introduction to Sensory Evaluation will give you a solid foundation upon which to build your descriptive lexicon of coffee.

Foundations of Coffee

Learn about coffee’s journey from its origins in Ethiopia to the major commodity it is today. From growing the cherries through grading, roasting, and brewing, this module provides an overview of the coffee value chain.

This is the gateway course for all SCA Education and essential for those looking for a career in coffee and just as fun for those looking to expand their coffee knowledge.
